Our first visit begins by protecting all surfaces and walls surrounding the cabinets and setting up a high volume fan to outdoors. We number, inspect, then remove the doors. Next we clean, sand, spray prime and then spray paint the cabinet frames, gables, toe kicks, crown moulding and valances. Clean up follows, after which your kitchen is ready for full re-use and you can put your dishes away. Step 2. The doors are taken to our paint shop, cleaned, sanded, spray primed and painted, and cured. Step 3. The final step is a short return visit to replace the finished doors, re-install the hardware and adjust. PROJECT PLANNING TIPS 1. Planning: If this is your first partial or full kitchen renovation, it may help to measure and draw your kitchen layout, obtain samples of each of the materials you plan to use and place them beside each other to get a visual idea of how they work together, or not. 2. Scheduling: Ideally, any lighting changes should be done first, while cabinet refinishing falls in near the end of your renovation. Back splashes, counter-top and floor changes are often messy, and should be done BEFORE painting the cabinets, while painting walls surrounding the cabinets should be last. 3. Lighting: Consider lighting changes BEFORE you choose colours and sheen of paint, fabrics or surface coverings, especially if you are changing from light to dark colours, or cool to warm themes. Consider if you want a warm or a cool theme in your kitchen, because the correct lighting can help achieve these, while incorrectly chosen bulbs can wash out colours. LED lights are the cool new kid on the block, and offer unique advantages in controls, much lower operating cost, as well as 20 to 30 year lifespan in bulbs. 4. Colours and Sheen: We have a good working relationship with professional consultants of various backgrounds, and would be happy to recommend them to you. The link below may also guide you to a simpler or less difficult choice of colours and textures. Most manufactured cabinets, and most refinished products are in a satin sheen. Higher gloss levels tend to show every speck of dirt, dust, fingerprints etc. -http://www.hgtv.com/kitchens/kitchen-colors-that-work-together/index.html 5. Hardware: Choose new handles, knobs and hinges BEFORE the doors are removed, so you can get a visual idea of what they look like, especially if their location on the door will change. Face frame hinges are partly visible when the doors are closed, and we can usually replace these with completely hidden Euro style hinges. Please mention this in your inquiry for a quote.
